Accountants Deepak and Sheema Karia decided they “wanted to give something back” but did not know how to go about it.
They looked on the internet and found the Rotary Club of Leicester Novus website. Within days, they had made contact and had started attending the club at its weekly meetings at the Stoneycroft Hotel in Leicester.
But the Sileby couple did not stop there… they were soon helping Marie Curie Cancer Care by taking part in a bucket collection in Leicester. And they helped marshal the LOROS twilight walk around Leicester on a rainy Saturday evening.
None of that dampened their spirits and they returned to the Stoneycroft Hotel on May 7 to be inducted into the club by President Dipan Bhagalia. They both said how much they had enjoyed getting to know club members and taking part in projects.
Watching them join the club was another potential member who had also found the Leicester Novus website while considering how she could make friends while helping others.
Family commitments meant that Sheema could not attend the District Assembly two days later, but Deepak was happy that he would be there.
Dipan Bhagalia has inducted five members in the 10 months he has been president. One member has resigned and so Deepak and Sheema became the 19th and 20th members… but not necessarily in that order!
Welcome, Deepak and Sheema!
