Summit else to be proud of!

Novus members were quick to congratulate husband-and-wife Ranjit and Jasbir Mann when they joined 700 other Sikhs to climb to the summit of Snowdon, for the charity Khalsa Aid.

At 1,085 metres (3,559.711 feet) above sea level, Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales. Recently it has been more widely recognised by its Welsh name Yr Wyddfa (pronounced Uhr-with-va). Myth has it that the giant Rhita Gawr was buried on the mountain after a battle with King Arthur.

It took Ranjit (Novus president until the week before the ascent) and Jasbir (president in 2011-2012) seven hours to walk the nine miles to the summit.

Ranjit said that even though it rained while they were at the highest point, the scenery was stunning. He thanked all of his friends and sponsors for their support of Falcons Primary School, where Jasbir is head teacher, which resulted in £3,750 being raised for Khalsa Aid.
