Exceptional fellowship is one of the reasons 1.2 million people around the world belong to\u00a0Rotary clubs and work together behind the motto Service Above Self.<\/p>\n

As a member of one club, every one is entitled \u2014 encouraged even \u2014 to visit any club. It was with great pleasure that President Jason Chauhan and other members of Leicester Novus Rotary were able to welcome Rotarian Shoji Yamamoto and his wife and Kazuko to a meeting held at The Grange restaurant at Oadby.<\/p>\n

Shoji is a member of the Rotary Club of\u00a0Nishinomiya-shukugawa in Japan. He is chair of the\u00a0scholarship subcommittee for his District (the group of clubs in his part of the world). As such he is helping a student called Mai Tsumura who is returning to Leicester in a few days to resume her studies at Leicester University which started last year.<\/p>\n

Some weeks ago Mai found Novus’s website and contacted the club. She wrote that she wanted to meet club members and to help them\u00a0\u2014 firstly as they help marshal a charity fun run.<\/p>\n

to ask for help. President Jason Chauhan and other members resolved to help make Mai’s stay in Leicester over the coming weeks as safe and comfortable as possible.<\/p>\n

When Moira Bartlett, a past president of the Rotary Club of Leicester, heard about Mai’s impending visit, she contact her to explain that over the years as scholarship officer, she had experience of helping students like Mai and could supply pots and pans and other household items.<\/p>\n

Moira and her friends in Novus Rotary are looking forward to meeting Mai and hearing about her study of English.<\/p>\n
