(This message was added in version 6.7.0.) in /home/rot454leics/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6114The Rotary Club of Leicester Novus has been in existence for a decade. It is thriving with 21 members, eleven of whom are founder members. Those founder members chose the name Novus because they wanted their club to always be ‘new’ and novel.
But they are aware that it is necessary to review their goals and to ask themselves the questions: what should our longer-term plans be? — what is our club for? — are all members satisfied and properly engaged?
To that end, the club invited Assistant Governor Nigel Aaron from the Rotary Club of Oadby Launde and Visioning lead Graham Martin, from the Rotary Club of Loughborough Beacon to explain the Club Visioning or health check process.
Graham suggested that Novus should set aside an extended meeting of up to three and a half hours — maybe on a Saturday morning — to start the process. He stressed that they did not want to impose rules or targets, but suggested that all members should be encouraged to contribute to discussions as equals, sharing time and being brave with suggestions for how the club could improve.
“You might very well decide one of three course of action,” he said: “To stay as you are, to tweak your plans or to stop doing some things.”
Nigel said: “This is not a pass\/fail exercise. It’s about making plans for maybe three years but recognising that those plans might have to change.”
President Maya Vansia thanked the visitors for having led the discussion.
