<\/a>The United Nations and the global Rotary movement have much in common. Not only was Rotary the only non-governmental organisation to be invited to be invited to a seat at the United Nations table, but Rotary’s aims are so very similar to those of the United Nations. Rotary members, said John, are looked up to because they are often well qualified in many fields and are considered good leaders and changemakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He urged the five members and their two visiting Rotarians to think about what really matters to them when considering a new behaviour, product or choice. John said that his main message is: Take time to think about what changes you, as an individual can make to make a difference. He said: “don’t worry that you cannot make a big change, be content to make a small improvement now and to make another improvement in the future. Anything, he said, is better than doing nothing.
This applies as much today in the field of climate change as it did when the UN was formed. Rotary District 1070’s lead on behavioural change and energy, Kimbolton Castle member John Rowlatt made this point when he spoke to Novus Rotary on 13\/10\/2022|.
His PowerPoint presentation, aimed at students and staff at De Montfort University, where he is a Doctoral Researcher, Institute of Energy & Sustainable Development (IESD) asked several questions, including how many sustainable development goads had been set by the UN in the Paris Accord.
He revealed that, having learned about the impact on the global climate of producing food, he had started cutting meat out of his diet for two or three days of the week.
