Morrisons invite shoppers to buy packs of food which can be passed on via a food bank

If you want to help them feed some of the most vulnerable families in Leicester you can do so by following that link, or by donating food or cash at Morrisons while we are collecting there on May 1 and May 2. As we discovered in March, more and more people don ‘t carry cash, but shop — and donate — using bank cards. We have a card reader which proved very convenient and popular. Or you can contact Novus Rotary by clicking on the “Contact Us” tab on this web page.
If you’re shopping at Morrisons over the bank holiday, please say “Hello” and help those who struggle to shop for themselves. Thank you.

DAY ONE: (Mayday Bank Holiday Monday, May 1)

Thanks to the generosity of Morrisons shoppers and their welcoming staff, nearly £235 was collected by Rotary volunteers between 9am and 1pm.
Rotarians will be back with their collecting buckets (and their car-reader) from 9am on Tuesday, May 2.

DAY TWO: (Tuesday, May 2)

After another four hours collecting from — and chatting with — customers and staff at Morrisons the total collected over two days rose to just under £500.
Novus Rotary president Ranjit Mann was pleased with the result and thanked Morrisons staff, particularly the Community Champion Jess Roberts, but mainly the generous shoppers who use the store.
Ranjit hopes to invite New Parks Food Bank leader Lindsay Peberdy and staff from Morrisons to a meeting of the Rotary Club so the cash can be transferred.
Over two days at the beginning of March, Novus Rotarians collected about £400 for another food bank while collecting at another Leicester supermarket.
