Shelterboxes\u00a0\u2014 big green plastic boxes which contain a well-equipped tent\u00a0for up to a dozen people whose lives have been turned upside down by disaster\u00a0\u2014 have helped saved thousands of lives.<\/p>\n

At \u00a3590 they are\u00a0not cheap, but they are absolutely vital in areas like earthquake-hit Nepal or Syria.<\/p>\n

The generous parents and pupils at the Falcons Primary School in Gipsy Lane Leicester responded magnificently when head teacher Jasbir Mann, a member and past president of Leicester Novus Rotary Club, invited them to raise money for Shelterbox.<\/p>\n

In double-quick time they raised enough money to buy a Shelterbox, which they will be able to\u00a0track online to see where it is sent.<\/p>\n

Rotarian Alan Jones, a member of the Rotary Club of Hinckley Ambion, offered to take a Shelterbox to the school summer fete so parents and children\u00a0could see what is\u00a0inside.<\/p>\n
