Mary's Meals

Dear Friends

On behalf of everyone at Mary’s Meals, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks for your recent donation of £473.24. We are so grateful for your support.

Every donation to Mary’s Meals, large or small, goes a long way to helping us reach more children with a nutritious daily meal in their place of education. We are delighted to be able to say we are now feeding over 923,000 children – a figure which is a true testament to the many, many acts of kindness from donors all over the world. Together we are making child hunger a thing of the past

Every individual child has their own unique story to tell about the difference Mary’s Meals has made to them. One of those children is Alice, from Malawi, who has benefitted massively from the generosity of supporters like you.

Alice was just 12 years old when she fell pregnant. She had no choice but to drop out of school and find work as a maid. She told us,

“I faced many family problems growing up. These problems came from there never being enough money to feed all of the children in the family. When I was twelve I was encouraged by my mother to find a boyfriend to look after me. But when I fell pregnant he refused to marry me and I never saw him again. I had no choice but to drop out of primary school because I knew I had a child to support. I spent the first two years of my daughter’s life working as a maid and struggling.”

Alice, who is now 15, refused to give up hope. Soon, her daughter was enrolled at an Under Six Early Education Centre run by Mary’s Meals, which allowed Alice to continue with her education. Both now receive Mary’s Meals. She said, “I knew I had to get back to school. My dream is to become a nurse so that I can always have enough money to support my daughter.”

Thank you for the vital part you are playing in being able to offer hope to children just like Alice who often find themselves in very difficult circumstances. You are not only filling up empty stomachs, but also providing an escape route from poverty, giving children and their communities a lasting hope for the future.

Thank you for giving this precious gift.

Yours sincerely,

Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow
