Ey up, mi duck! Can you dig in to help?

For more than 40 years Rotary members from across the world have reduced the number of new cases of polio from about 350,000 each year to only 11 so far in 2023.

Four local Rotary clubs will hold a series of duck races in Knighton Park in May 2024 to raise money to allow the vaccinations to continue.

From 10:30am on Tuesday, October 24 — World Polio Day — they will be planting crocus bulbs, the symbol of Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign and to beautify the park.

Novus Rotary president Jim Matthews says: “We would welcome some help to plant a couple of thousand crocus bulbs in the park on that morning. If you can help, please e-mail RotaryClubofLeicesterNovus@gmail.com or call me on 0795 197 2914.”

“We are pleased to support the Friends of Knighton Park and Leicester City Council who do so much to maintain this lovely park, while at the same time working to get the world from 99per cent to 100 per cent free of polio.

“If you would like to help with either of those aims, while also enjoying the friendship and fellowship of Rotary membership, please give me a call.”

The red arrow points to the location of the crocus-planting project. Can you spend a couple of hours there from 10:30am on October 24, 2023?
