Leicester Novus edged home in the first round of the District 1070 Minor Sports competition.
After three rounds, they finished three points ahead of their hosts, the Rotary Club of Hinckley.
The event was held at the Heathcote Arms, in Croft, who laid on a delicious traditional skittle meal arranged by Hinckley team captain Paul Moss.
Novus team captain David Clorley played a captain’s innings, with only three team-mates, his wife Kate, Pam Spokes and Jim Matthews, because the event coincided with Diwali day.
Now, if Novus are drawn at home in the next round, David will have to arrange the evening… serves him right!
