Rotary Young Writer is a well-established and successful competition designed to support the development of writing skills and to encourage young people to write with imagination and creativity.

This is the fourth year that the Rotary Club of Leicester Novus has run the competition with St Thomas More Catholic Voluntary Academy and we were delighted to receive 44 entries this year on the theme “Our World is Beautiful”.

Rotarian Diana Thurston, who did the judging, was impressed with the high standard of writing, which made it very difficult to select the winners.

The winning entry was from Matt Byrne, and at an Assembly at the school on Thursday 28th April, certificates and gift vouchers were presented to Matt and to Elna Mathew who came 2nd and Emily Wright who was awarded 3rd place.  Matt’s entry will go forward to the District Competition.
