Shelterboxes being carried to the remote areas of Nepal
devastated by the earthquake
No-one could have predicted when Alan Jones, a member of the Rotary Club of Hinckley Ambion, spoke to Leicester Novus Rotary Club a couple of weeks after Typhoon Pam struck in the Pacific that Nepal would have been devastated by an earthquake only a fortnight later.
Alan, the District 1070 Ambassador for Shelterbox, told members all about how the charity, which had been started in Cornwall by a Rotarian.
He showed members the Shelterbox and its contents, which enable families to survive, when disasters like the typhoon and the earthquake wreak havoc.
His PowerPoint presentation and his words went down well.
Novus members made donations to Shelterbox via the Rotary In Great Britain and Ireland website so they would attract Gift Aid.
