High-flying head welcomes Rotary friends

Headteacher Jasbir Mann beneath the huge falcon, symbol of Falcons Primary School

Rotary member Jasbir Mann welcomed members of the Novus club to her brand-new school.

Falcons Primary School in Gipsy Lane, Leicester, opened just before Christmas, several months later than had been planned. The original board of governors and the original head left and Jasbir, an experienced headteacher who last summer oversaw the raising of more than £3,000 for the Jaipur Limb, a Rotary project, stepped in.

Members of her club were keen to see what the school is like. She showed them around and they admired artwork produced by the 40 or so youngsters aged four and five. The most dramatic piece of artwork is the giant falcon which is suspended from the ceiling of one of the large ground-floor classrooms.
