Paul Bonnett, the Immediate Past President of the Rotary Club of Leicester, is a volunteer ambassador for the Air Ambulance. He offered to come and speak to the Rotary Club of Leicester Novus, which he did in February.
Paul returned for the club meeting on May 4, to collect a donation of £285 which will help maintain and develop the life-saving services of the Air Ambulance. President Gemma Kiddy said that since Paul’s talk, she now looked up, every time she heard a helicopter, to see if it was one of the two yellow and blue ones operated by the local air ambulance.
In thanking Novus Rotary, Paul explained that he was delighted to accept the cheque, but his motivation in offering to talk had been to spread awareness of the charity.
At the same meeting, Secretary Pam Spokes announced that she had received a letter from Leicester Shelter thanking the club for its donation for a similar amount. You can read that letter here
