For the second time in less than a month, Novus Rotarians gave up their Saturday morning to help develop a Peace Garden at at the two-year-old Falcons Primary School in Gipsy Lane.
Leading the effort is member Frazer Robson. He reported: “Working alongside parents and governors we continued to make steady progress working on the seats, the trellises, raised flower beds and the gabion baskets. We did some planting too.”
The work would not be possible without the expert planning and hands-on effort of Matthew Herbert and his colleague, Keith, from the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust.
Eventually, the school garden will include a water feature and a Peace Pole bought with help from the Rotary Club of Oadby Launde which bears the word Peace in several different languages, matching the multi-cultural ethos of the school, which is shared by the club.
