Every June is a busy month for Rotarians all over the world.
With less than a month before the current Rotary year ends and the new one begins, some members are dashing around trying to complete projects before July 1, and some are making plans for the new year.
Often it’s the same Rotarians feeling the time pressure from both directions.
Having a deadline by which they have to present their plans to fellow members for approval at a club assembly helps concentrate the mind.
The motto of the new year’s Rotary International president Barry Rassin is Be The Inspiration.
Incoming president of the Rotary Club of Leicester Novus Jason Chauhan took it to heart and opened his club’s assembly with a poem.
Come back to this site soon to hear him recite it.
He set out his goals for the year. They include setting up a charity now that the club is raising substantial sums of money, raising awareness of Rotary, holding a sponsored walk for charities and making better use of Rotary software to improve its service to the community.
Assistant Governor Nigel Aaron, representing incoming District Governor Tim Tucker, praised Jason and his team for being a small club that nonetheless does a large amount of work.
