Meeting face to face, as Novus is now able to do with some members choosing to attend via Zoom, is so much better — not least because attendees can chat over coffee, tea and biscuits.
But also because they can study closely and handle three-dimensional objects.
At the club’s first ‘hybrid’ (face to face and available on Zoom) meeting, members passed around a postcard-sized celebration of the first centenary of Rotary in Australia.
Sealed behind a clear window is a special one-dollar coin bearing the words “Centenary of Rotary In Australia” issued by The Royal Australian Mint. The card shows Rotary in Action one one side and a photo of the Rotary Club of Melbourne from 1921.
The card was sent to a Novus member whose brother-in-law lives in Melbourne. He is not a member of Rotary, but has friends who are.
