Falcons Primary School in Leicester shares several things in common with Leicester Novus Rotary; the school’s head teacher is Jasbir Mann who is a founder-member of the Rotary Club, and both organisations believe in celebrating service and celebrating successes.
Rotary secretary Pam Spokes attended a recent celebratory assembly at the school to oversee the award of Rotary Stars awards which recognise and encourage good citizenship across a number of schools across the city and including the 420 pupils at Falcons, the Sikh-ethos school.
Pam saw the photo above of the whole of Year Six which received the Falcons Award to congratulate the year group on raising £352.11 for the Oxygen for India appeal. They raised the money running a tuck shop during Thursday break-time. The money will help provide oxygen in India which is struggling to find enough for Covid patients.
Vishal was the driving force behind the fundraising efforts for Oxygen For India. The youngster sold his treasured collection of Pokeman cards and is still accepting offers to boost the £121 he has already raised.

At Falcons, it is not only children who are thanked for ‘going over and beyond’. The whole of Year 3 agreed that staff member Mrs Liddar deserves thanks…
