Novus Rotary members once again gathered around their computer screens for another quiz set and run by past president Jason Chauhan.
Before they started, they learned that our team were joint winners of the District 1070 (the 96 clubs across eastern central England) quiz semi final.
Our team (president Sarita Shah, secretary Pam Spokes and assistant secretary Frazer Robson and his teacher son Tom) scored 89 out of 100 points to draw with Ashby Castle Rotary Club.
The two clubs agreed to share the £50 prize, so £25 will go into the Novus charity fund to be spent later on a good cause.
Having got that good news out of the way, 10 members and two guests settled down to try to answer the 40 questions in the quiz that Jason set using the website https://myquiz.org/
To no-one’s great surprise, the quiz was won by Frazer and his executive headteacher wife Carol. Second was Channi Riyait, although several unkind members thought that he was the weakest link in his team with his daughter Tripat and their vocal African grey parrot Rajah.
Afterwards Jason then ran three rounds of a fun quiz which his family play at Christmas-time, based on a a commercial game called Show Down.
Away from quizzing, Sercetary Pam told membes that she had delivered two more Kindle Fire tablets to Mellor Primary School. And Treasurer Deepak said he had received donations from non-members which would allow the club to buy a ninth.
