For several years Pam Spokes, secretary and Youth Services Lead for Novus Rotary, has visited primary school assemblies to oversee our Rotary Stars programme.
Since COVID, of course, Pam has had to attend virtual assemblies. Her most recent ‘visit’ was to Falcons Primary School which Novus has a long-standing relationship, not least because its head is a member of Novus Rotary. But this year is the first time that Falcons have taken part in the Rotary Stars programme, designed to encourage and reward good citizenship. Normally, we invite children and teachers to nominate pupils.
But in another first, this time five adults were nominated. Premises officer Mr Viren Shah was nominated by Year 6 Gannets.
Although Mr Shah’s proper title is premises officer, Novus Rotary know him to be a ‘care taker’ because of the dedication and helpfulness he has shown while helping Novus create a Peace Garden at the school.
