Pam reflects on meeting for 530 incoming Governors

Pam and Rodney meet Mark and Gay Maloney
in San Diego

Secretary Pam Spokes is the wife of incoming District 1070 Governor Rodney Spokes. They travelled to San Diego for the mandatory assembly of all incoming Governors from the 528 districts (25 in Great Britain and Ireland).

Pam showed some wonderful slides of their trip to San Francisco, where they caught up with family, before driving 600 miles, over three days, to the assembly, chaired by incoming Rotary International President Mark Daniel Maloney.

Mark’s theme for the year starting on July 1 will be “Rotary Connects The World”. He said: “Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change — across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.”

The new strategic aims are to:

Increase our impact

Expand our reach

Enhance participant engagement

Increase our ability to adapt

Pam reported that there were more than 1,000 delegates (Governors-Elect plus spouses and trainers) at the inspirational five-day event which started each morning at 9am and ended at 5pm.

Pam said she and Rodney had thoroughly enjoyed their visit and were looking forward to his year, a highlight of which will be the District Conference in Southport in September.
